Hammer
A hammer drill is a universal tool: it can be used to make a hole, grooves for a cable, and a recess for a socket.
For home use, cheap models with low impact energy are most often purchased. But they are uncomfortable and not very durable. A professional tool will help you get the job done faster, and you will be less tired in the process. Modern cordless hammer drills are not inferior in performance to their mains-powered counterparts, and some models have even higher impact energy. This means that such a device can easily cope with reinforced concrete and other hard materials.
Due to the weight of the battery, cordless hammer drills are slightly heavier. But with such equipment it is more convenient to work in hard-to-reach places and on objects where there is no full-fledged electrical wiring yet.
Popular manufacturers of power tools for the home
Conventionally, the market for household power tools is divided into two groups. The first includes offers from manufacturers of professional equipment.
Manufacturers of professional power tools for the home
Let's talk about the market leaders.
- Bosch. The company produces a wide range of power tools for the home. High demand for products allows the manufacturer to keep prices at an optimal level.
- Makita. In our country, the instruments of this Japanese giant have become widespread. The reason for this is the best price-quality ratio.
- Metabo. This German company, which produces functional, reliable and ergonomic units, closes the top three. The company's products are in slightly less demand due to higher prices.
- Dewalt. The American company takes an honorable fourth place in the ranking of manufacturers of professional power tools for the home. Dewalt saws, jigsaws and drills last longer than their German counterparts. The company got into fourth place due to high prices.

Einhell also specializes in the production of household power tools for the home. It supplies the market with the best low-power models. You will have to pay more for German quality.
Construction vacuum cleaner

A powerful vacuum cleaner is useful at all stages of renovation. If you collect dust after drilling each hole, it will not settle in an even layer throughout the apartment. In addition, you will save on cleaning costs - a light surface cleaning will be enough, rather than washing the entire house.
Home models quickly become unusable due to construction dust. But professional equipment will not let you down: its components are equipped with special protection.
Among construction vacuum cleaners there are battery models. They are especially convenient if there are more equipment than sockets at the site, and you don’t want to use extra wires that are so easy to trip over. A 3-5 liter container is enough for most situations. In addition, it is easier to work with a cordless vacuum cleaner at heights and in other inconvenient places: you can hang it on your shoulder like a bag.
There are also networked models: they cope with large volumes of construction dust faster due to increased suction power. The container capacity of such vacuum cleaners can reach 40 liters or more. Some devices are also suitable for wet cleaning - and therefore wet drilling.
Nayler is the frame builder's best assistant
Is it worth buying a pneumatic hammer for construction? Users have different opinions. Some believe that this is an unjustified waste of money, because in addition to the expensive nailer, you also need a compressor. Others believe that it will pay for itself during construction. Let's turn to Roman's practical experience.

I first placed the posts on the trim, screwing and nailing them to the corners. Did not like. Too long and boring. It is much faster to nail the posts with a pneumatic hammer. I drive the nails, one at a time, into the ends and three at a time into the faces of the posts. Then I secure the boards with temporary jibs.
Option for attaching posts to corners.
And this is working with a nailer.
Roman calculated that he needed 6,000 nails for 60 linear meters of wall. In total, on average, the consumption of nails during the construction of a proper frame is 100 pcs. per 1 linear meter of house wall.

I was lucky, I bought a nailer on sale for 2,000 rubles and a pneumatic gun for driving staples for only 1,000 rubles. Tools “Made in the USSR”. Years of manufacture – 1985 and 1986. Condition – new, in conservation lubricant with full equipment. I also bought a compressor, air treatment and consumables. In the end, I ended up with 10,000 rubles. I don't think it can be cheaper.
How Roman worked with the nailer is described in the video below, and we summarize the results.
Laser level
This device is designed for constructing right angles, horizontal and vertical alignment. It will make it much easier to attach drywall to profiles, level walls and pipes, transfer elevation marks, install sockets, cable trays, and radiators.
The level will be useful both during the repair process and for acceptance. For example, if you buy an apartment with finishing in a new building, he will help you evaluate the quality of the work performed and receive compensation if the developer did not do everything according to the standards.
Hilti has almost any professional equipment for construction and repair work. With it, the process will take less time, and it will be possible to include in the estimate not such impressive amounts for a potential battle and additional purchases.
These tools can be rented in showrooms and on the website of MaxiPRO, the official partner of Hilti, in Leroy Merlin hypermarkets in Mytishchi, Altufev, Pushkin, Lefortovo and Lyubertsy for a period of 1 to 30 days. The service is already available for individual entrepreneurs and companies, and at the beginning of 2021, individuals will also be able to take professional equipment for temporary use.
During the entire rental period, you have the right to free servicing of tools and replacement during repairs. If something breaks, you don’t have to worry: Hilti will fix it at its own expense - unless, of course, you broke the case and tried to fix it yourself.

Review and tips for choosing the most important things
Using modern tools, you can quickly and reliably build a frame house. Let's take a closer look at some of the tools that play the most important role in the construction of buildings using frame technology.
Saws
A circular saw is one of the most important tools in building a frame house from scratch. With its help, you can cut any block or board into two parts, saw it, make a notch, change the cutting angle, depth and other characteristics.
It is convenient to have a stationary network circular saw (for example, Hitachi) and one with batteries (for example, DeWalt). When working with a saw, it is very important to pay attention to the depth of cut and the speed of the blade. For example, to cut a board 50 mm thick at a cutting angle of 45 degrees, one pass is sufficient.
A miter saw is another good tool for preparing wall studs and floor joists. Of course, to make a perpendicular cut, you can also use a regular circular plate. But when you need to do this repeatedly, the discomfort is more noticeable, so it is better to purchase a miter saw.
It is also recommended to stock up on several regular hacksaws. They will help out in situations where it becomes difficult to get somewhere with a circular saw. For ease of work, it is recommended to have 2-3 of these saws with different teeth.
As for a chainsaw and a reciprocating saw, there is no need for them when harvesting and processing lumber for a frame house. All work can be performed using the above equipment.
Hammers
One of the hammers will be used to assemble the rough frame. When choosing it, it is important to pay attention to the type of striker. Carpenter's has a smooth surface, while roofing's has a notched surface.
You can choose the main hammer you need depending on your personal preferences. The hammer should be convenient and reliable, since it does the main work when assembling a frame house. It is better to immediately purchase a quality option.

The second hammer you may need is a finishing hammer. It has a smooth striker and is small in size. The advantage of such a tool is that it drives nails and pins into the material without damaging its outer part.
Sledgehammers of small and large sizes are also useful at construction sites. Their use reduces the number of impacts when working with very strong or heavy materials.
Bostitch rack-type nailers have proven themselves well To make this tool work, you need an air compressor and electricity. When building a frame house, you will have to use thousands of nails, and it is very difficult to hammer them in manually. A nailer will make this task easier.
Just like regular hammers, nailers have divisions into regular and finishing. The latter are purchased if there is a need to do a lot of interior finishing work. To build one house, it’s realistic to do without them. You can also purchase staplers to secure the outer sheathing. But instead of them, you can use regular nailers with smaller nails.
Screwdrivers and drills
To build a frame house with your own hands, you need to have at least two screwdrivers - a heavy one and a light one. They also require additional batteries. This is one of the most important tools for building a frame house.
In addition, a high-quality drill is necessary. Its striking power is unlikely to be needed, but the ability to make holes for communications, interior decoration and other purposes will be very useful. The hammer drill is used only at the stage of foundation work.
Tape measures and rulers
It is better to purchase measuring devices from metal. These have higher accuracy and longer service life. Rulers that have both an inch and a metric scale are convenient.
Electric planers and sanders
These are inexpensive power tools. As for the plane, it is used at the stage of preparing a rough frame wall for gluing with plasterboard. If the subfloor has uneven surfaces, it is easy to smooth them out and trim the joints with a plane.
The grinder is also known as the grinder. It is capable of cutting any metal and stone, which is very important in construction.
Stairs, scaffolding, stepladders
These helpers must be in sufficient quantity and of different heights. If there is no money to purchase scaffolding, you can make it yourself from available materials. But you need to purchase a stepladder - you can’t do without it.
Of course, there are other small tools that can be used in the construction process. But here are the basic positions, without which it is difficult to build a house.
Laser meter
A meter, also known as a rangefinder, or tape measure, is a compact but very necessary device. It will quickly and accurately determine the distance, calculate the area of walls or the volume of rooms. And you don’t have to climb on stools or stepladders to do this - just point the laser beam in the right direction. You don't need a separate calculator either - it's built into the device.
The meter helps you save: with it you can easily determine the required volume of building materials and will not buy too much. The device will also come in handy when receiving an object. This means that the builders will definitely not deceive you.
Knife with retractable, replaceable blades
When purchasing such a knife, it is better not to waste time on trifles and choose a more expensive model, since cheap ones often have a low-quality blade clamping mechanism. As for size, just like with a tape measure and a hammer, I think it is better to have two knives: one with a blade width of 9 mm and a larger one with a blade width of 25 mm. The first is suitable for small jobs, such as stripping cable cores. The second knife is useful for more complex work, such as cutting plastic or linoleum.

If you have to renovate with remodeling, you need to widen window or door openings, remove tiles from the floor or make grooves or holes in it, you can’t do without a bumper. Models are available for horizontal and vertical work.
For dismantling foundations and concrete slabs, releasing reinforcement, destroying old concrete floors or screeds, as well as hollowing out pipe channels, a classic T-shaped breaker is suitable. Two handles provide ease of movement. In addition, modern models weigh relatively little - from 14 kg.
Options for vertical objects are indispensable for chiseling walls and brickwork. Active Vibration Reduction helps you get the job done faster and work longer without interruption. We recommend models with a removable cable - if you suddenly damage it, replace it in a matter of seconds.
Engraving machine
Used for making products. Work can be carried out on metal, wood, ceramics.
Main functions:
- drilling;
- grinding;
- polishing;
- thread.
This is a highly powerful tool, 480 watts, with 6 speed settings. The speed is adjustable from 5,000 to 30,000 per minute, and it is not noisy. There is no beating during operation. The tool comes with a set of a large number of cutters and saws. The body of the machine and the cartridge are made with high quality. The work of the engraving machine can be rated as a solid four; it works confidently and without interruptions.
