Wall made of round saw cuts

This is another simple and interesting way to decorate a wooden wall. To solve this problem, you need to cut round planks from stumps or tree trunks.

Rounds should be attached to the wall in two ways:

Make a wall out of plywood and nail the material to it.
The rounds are glued to a flat wall surface using special glue.

Step-by-step installation instructions

Preparation stage: after inspecting the wall and making sure that it is smooth and clean, secure the mesh with dowels and level it with a special solution. If the wall turns out to be unprepared during inspection, then it needs to be leveled, the cracks covered, and the decorative coating removed.
Installation of support: a special support is created for laying the first rows. For support, a metal corner is usually used, which is securely fixed.
Primer is applied: the primer is placed on the dried mortar. The soil will improve adhesion between the surface and the facing material.
Preparing the adhesive mixture: you will need glue intended only for stone elements. For interior decoration, it is recommended to use glue with an elastic structure, frost and moisture protection.
Applying glue: applied only to the part of the wall where the cladding will be placed. There is no point in applying glue to the entire wall, as it will dry out, which will reduce the level of adhesion. It is best to work with a trowel or spatula, carefully rubbing the composition into the wall. The glue is also applied to the facing material itself, spreading it over the back side.
Laying on the wall: the mortar is pressed in with strong pressure and tapped on the stone with a rubber hammer. This is necessary to remove excess protruding glue.
A building level is required for horizontal and vertical alignment. To ensure that the fragments are evenly distributed on the plane, after laying they are checked with a level. Correction of the location is carried out until the glue has dried.
Grouting: Use a syringe or a nail gun to fill gaps. The mixture is pressed in with gentle movements and smoothed out, but only when it grips the surface.
Final processing: removes contaminants that were introduced during installation - excess glue, mortar and grout residues. For this, natural cleaners are used that will not destroy the texture, color and properties of the material.

By giving preference to artificial or natural material, the designer will receive a coating that will not change its original characteristics over a long period. Of course, laminate can hardly be called wood. But his appearance says otherwise.

Installation process

For all types of decorative wall decoration with boards, one work process is followed, which is done in three steps. What does decorating a room with wood look like step by step:

preparatory work is carried out with the material;
a frame is made on the walls;
cladding is carried out with a decorative product.

After purchase, it is recommended to dry the material, but not artificially, but under natural conditions. The room where the finishing material is stored must be well ventilated. In order for the wood to dry properly, decorative boards should be laid in layers, but be sure to install linings between them. Then a void will form between the slats, and air circulation will accelerate. Coniferous trees take a long time to dry out, while larch trees dry out faster.

To construct the sheathing in an apartment or house, you can use a metal profile or wooden square planks. The profile is superior to wood in that it has a high service life and ease of installation. The frame is always made across the material being sheathed: if the decorative boards are mounted in a vertical position, then the sheathing is done in a horizontal position. This design is attached regardless of the condition of the wall, so there is no need to level the surface. If wood is used for the frame, the walls must be treated with special antifungal agents.

In those rooms where there is a high concentration of moisture, specialists solve the problem by installing mini-ventilation. It is enough to make a few small and unnoticeable holes in the casing, and the entire structure will be ventilated. It is important to choose insulation in advance. If mineral wool is used, then a distance of 50 cm is maintained between the bars. Insulation is carried out by placing wool in the cells. Assembly technology may vary. It all depends on the chosen finishing material:

method of joining between two parts;
method of installing boards in special grooves.

In the first option, the facing boards are fixed using self-tapping screws. But symmetry must be observed. It is necessary to screw in the screws only along the cord or line: this way they will add aesthetics to the appearance of the finish. Experts advise masking the heads of the screws; therefore, they are screwed in so that small indentations of a couple of millimeters are formed. The holes are covered with putty, and paint identical to the color of the boards is applied on top.

In the second option, the assembly technology resembles the installation of parquet. Screws or nails are attached to the sides of the planks until they are slightly deeper. In this case, you won’t have to do the work of masking the caps, and the design will be seamless.

Wall decoration with clapboard
