Review of Jacob Delafon bathtubs: description and customer reviews

Product Features

Acrylic bathtub Jacob Delafon

The Jacob Delafon bathtub is manufactured using unique methods developed by the company. Models vary in shape, color, design, and equipment.

They have advantages over other products:

  • wear resistance;
  • high thermal conductivity;
  • long service life;
  • wide price range;
  • great design.

The main disadvantage is the high cost. Even economy models are more expensive than analogues of other brands.

Freestanding bathtub Jacob Delafon Patio 160×70 - reviews of breakdowns, defects, reasons for repairs, customer complaints

Vladimir Z. ★ Advantages:

Acrylic is lightweight.
Disadvantages:
Thin acrylic, bad legs included, crooked side edges.
Comment:
I bought it a little over a year ago, the problems started from the moment of installation - the edge of the side turned out to be crooked in 2 planes, as a result, the builders spent the whole day making a screen for my bathtub. The legs included in the kit are clearly insufficient for full fixation; after a month of use, I had to make a support under the bottom from scrap materials. Overall dissatisfied with the purchase. The quality does not match the brand.

Built-in bathtub Jacob Delafon Soissons E2931 - reviews of breakdowns, defects, reasons for repairs, customer complaints

Sanechka ★★★ Advantages:

at first glance, quite thick cast iron, pleasant enamel.
Disadvantages:
the stated height is 54 cm, which is why I chose this bathtub.
It turns out that they mean height with legs!!! The height of the bathtub itself is standard, 40 with kopecks (overflow 38 cm) Rodion M. ★★★ Advantages:
The sticker on the bathtub will tell you and your guests about your success
Disadvantages:
the volume is very small.
It is not deep and the place where you stand is narrow - it cannot be compared with old Soviet bathtubs. Comment:
I advise you to choose another model. To raise to normal. The level from the floor was set to 88mm on the bricks. There was also a scratch on the enamel, which I obviously didn’t see when it was delivered.

Alexander Zh. ★ Advantages:

While new, white and beautiful.
Disadvantages:
After about two years, a dark spot began to form under the enamel, which gradually spreads in breadth, the bathtub was handled carefully, did not wash with aggressive means - I think this is a factory defect. On the rest of the surface, if you look closely, there are also microcracks in many places (Chinese quality). I didn’t think so what is the lousy quality of enamel - Soviet baths were not so beautiful but enamel is much more reliable.
Comment:
When thinking about which bathtub to choose as a replacement, delafon is understandably no longer considered.
Alexey Y. ★★★ Disadvantages:
delicate enamel compared to a Soviet bathroom, low legs
Comment:
immediately about the adequacy of the price - 2 years ago it was bought for 12 thousand rubles, in 2014 - 20,000 rubles! Made in China, delicate enamel, wash only with washing powder. A very gentle drain, it is important not to overtighten the nuts... although this is most likely the case with all cast iron bathtubs. The legs are high enough - since I don’t have a screen, you can’t put them on bricks. To screw the overflow, I had to make a hole in the floor. In general, after 2 years, the bottom is a little rough, the walls are shiny. Since no one produces high-quality enamel anymore (for 150*70 bathtubs), this is the best option for now. By the way, Delafon’s 25-year warranty is for cast iron only.

Dmitry M ★ Advantages:

Brand
Disadvantages:
Got it smelly! The smell doesn't go away for a month! It smells like chemicals, like urine, which means the manufacturer doesn’t follow the technology!

Freestanding bathtub Jacob Delafon Nathalie E2962 - reviews of breakdowns, defects, reasons for repairs, customer complaints

cupk2 c. ★★ Advantages:

Attractive appearance
Disadvantages:
1) Poor enamel, very fragile. On the third day, a chip already appeared, despite the fact that nothing was dropped on it. (see photo) 2) Very small in volume. Of 1 m 50 cm, actual length is about 130 (without sides). Only a child aged 5-9.3 will sit comfortably in it) Wide sides, because of them water constantly pours onto the floor from both sides and constantly needs to be wiped, because Dirt accumulates on them. The only solution we found was to install a glass curtain, because... with the regular one we are constantly flooded. Clearly not worth the money. I don’t recommend this company, it’s expensive, and the quality doesn’t match the price.

for good y. ★ Advantages:

Appearance in the store
Disadvantages:
Everything else. The bathtub size is 170x70, very narrow, suitable only for small people. I end up with half of my body above the water and I can’t pour any more because the water will go through the overflow. I am extremely disappointed.

Freestanding bathtub Jacob Delafon Catherine E2952 - reviews of breakdowns, defects, reasons for repairs, customer complaints

Tropic P. ★★★ Pros:

Bath was delivered to the address on time.
No chips, scratches. Disadvantages:
The bathtub is not painted tightly, in the corners it is noticeable that it is poorly painted, the cast iron is visible in the light, a small black dot more than gives this away.
The Jacob Delafon inscription is placed on a transparent sticker; on other bathtubs of this brand it is written on the bathtub itself. In some places the edges of the bathtub are uneven, sagging is visible, one of the corners is raised and is not parallel, which will complicate installation. Konstantin M. ★ Disadvantages:
170 instead of 175
Comment:
Jacob Delafon Catherine E2952 - on the manufacturer’s website and on Yandex.market the length is 175cm. Dealers are pushing 170. Be careful.

Material of execution

Bathtubs are produced mainly in two versions: acrylic and cast iron.

Acrylic

To produce these products, two sheets of acrylic, each 5 mm thick, are used, with a layer of mineral composite poured between them.

Acrylic bathtubs by Jacob Delafon are distinguished by:

  • wear resistance;
  • strength;
  • resistance to loads;
  • heat resistance;
  • pleasant appearance;
  • long service life.

The surface is treated using BioCote technology, which provides antibacterial protection.

Cast iron

The cast iron bathtub from Jacob Delafon is particularly durable and will last more than 25 years.

Advantages:

  • stability, thanks to the large weight of 120 kg, the structures stand securely on any surface;
  • such products are not afraid of mechanical shocks, chips and scratches do not form;
  • they have a high degree of heat conservation, the water remains warm for a long time;
  • there is no noise from flowing water.

Cast iron products do not come in a wide variety of shapes; rectangular and oval models are available.

Wall-hung toilet Jacob Delafon - reviews

Turmeric

We bought a Delafon toilet from Leroy Merlin, damn it. When purchasing, you cannot select a specific toilet; the order is delivered. So they brought it: the lid doesn’t fit the tank, it hangs over by a centimeter, and it’s also cracked! I don't recommend it to anyone.

When they were renovating the bathroom, my husband’s dream was to make a wall-hung toilet with an installation. We went to choose and in the plumbing salon the consultant sang the praises of the French brand Jacob Delafon. They bought it because it’s beautiful))))

First, about the advantages - a large assortment and plenty to choose from, smooth shapes and aesthetics of the product, high-quality coating, a beautiful signature label on the lid... That's all...

But behind the famous name there are also many disadvantages.

So, for example, these toilets are still made in China))))

The price-quality ratio is not in favor of the price; for the money you can look for something better. The design is beautiful, but for some reason the manufacturer didn’t think of at least thinking about covers for the bolts fastening to the wall; they’re not noticeable unless you know them, but it’s still unpleasant.

The mechanism for smoothly lowering the lid is also strange and somehow unfinished. The lid closer works very slowly, the lid will go down in about 20-30 seconds... well, in general, it will only work if the lid is fully open; if you open it a couple of centimeters to throw out a piece of paper, the closer will not work and will crash on the seat.

This is not the case, but for the money it would be nice to get it: there is no padding on the lid itself to prevent it from hitting the wall.

In general, next time we will approach this matter more seriously, but this brand did not justify itself. In general, this is European consumer goods, and not luxury, as it is praised in the store.

P.S. An installation always comes with a wall-hung toilet. Therefore, keep in mind that its installation is another +10,000 for installation and -15 cm of space in the toilet (the installation is sewn under drywall). We have a Geberit installation - we have no complaints about it.

The Jacob delafon presquile e4440 toilet did not cause much delight. It’s not worth the price, although the quality of the porcelain itself is normal - and that’s all. It turns out that I paid money only for the non-standard appearance and the lid with a lowering mechanism.

The purchase of the Jacob Delafon toilet brought me nothing but disappointment. I took the Huno E4380 model and the tank for it. After a while I saw a chip on the rim under the lid. I bought it online, so perhaps the damage appeared due to irresponsible transportation, but I didn’t notice it right away, although I carefully examined it. In short, it's a mess as always. Maybe it’s just me who was so lucky, but I definitely won’t recommend toilets from this company to anyone.

Advantages:

I liked the appearance

Flaws:

It is noisy when flushing. It feels like the toilet is “grunting” - I really didn’t like it, it’s annoying.

We also bought a rimless toilet for another toilet, there is no such thing there.

So I don't recommend this one. If anyone is interested, I can send you a video of how it works.

There was no warning about this feature.

Advantages:

1) Does not splash, unlike other rimless toilets 2) porcelain material - dense structure, ensuring resistance to various stains

Flaws:

Very noisy, incredibly noisy!

A comment:

I wouldn't take it again...

Advantages:

No

Flaws:

Complete lack of quality

When renovating a bathroom, I purchased a toilet and a seat with a Patio microlift from Leroy Merlin from Jakob Delafon. Since I don’t understand plumbing, I bought it based on appearance, not from the cheapest line. Within three months of operation, the tank, or rather the flushing element, broke down, and after another three months, the seat microlift broke down. Thus, within 6 months, all the mechanical elements that could break were broken. All my attempts to contact the official Scanservice service center were unsuccessful. All my applications were accepted, but not a single master came. Every time I called with a question about the status of my application, I received the same answer: wait, the specialist will call back. It's been three months since the master called. Therefore, if you purchase anything from this company, you will NEVER be provided with service; given the quality of this company’s products, service will definitely be required.

Advantages:

no

Flaws:

quality

We bought a Jacob Delafon Patio wall hung toilet in Leroy Merlin (made in Morocco). During installation there was a terrible sewer smell. The repairmen climbed all the cracks and everything was sealed. The smell came from the depths of the toilet itself. As a result, we bought the simplest Jika and the smell disappeared. Most likely there is a fistula (a manufacturing defect) and through it air from the sewer gets in under the toilet rim. Next, call the Jacob Delafon service center. The people who work there are outright boors who don’t even have a clue that it’s important to introduce yourself during a conversation (I wonder why the conversation isn’t recorded). Well, then the fairy tale: “within 10 days the master will contact you, he will arrive when he can, etc.” etc.”And then as in the first review. Brief summary: do not be fooled by the 25-year guarantee (which is displayed in their booklet). Absolutely not interested in the quality of products and preserving the face of the office. The price does not correspond to the quality at all.

Reviews for Bathtubs Jacob Delafon

Alexander T.

Product: Acrylic bathtub Jacob Delafon Patio 170x70

Advantages:

The bathroom is good. The quality is excellent, the thickness of the acrylic corresponds to the declared one. Acrylic is wear-resistant, almost every day our children wash themselves and something falls into the bathroom - a shower head, toys, laundry basins, ladles and the like.

Flaws:

Very slippery bottom. As soon as you get soap or shower gel under your feet, you feel like you’re on a skating rink, given the rather decent slope of the day towards the drain. Still, 70cm is not enough, given the gentle slope of the walls. There is a wide place at the drain and a narrow place on the opposite side. If anyone plans to lie in this bathtub, keep in mind that it is for slender people with narrow shoulders.

A comment:

You can take the frame for the bathroom, or you can leave it out. In any case, it is necessary to firmly fasten the long edge of the side, which is adjacent to the wall, otherwise normal sealing of the seam will not work, given the reverse slope of the side away from the bathroom. If a rigid front wall with tiles is not intended, as many do, then the long front edge must also be strengthened. In general, the long side of all acrylic bathtubs is their weak point. The bathroom is prepared for the frame - the corners for the frame supports are reinforced, the bottom is reinforced. Frame with five support points (legs) all adjustable over a wide range. However, during installation, the frame must be correctly rotated relative to the bathtub so that it is level. When purchasing a bathtub with a frame, be sure to take into account the space for the legs of the frame when laying the pipes, so that you don’t have to move it later. I did it myself with a frame and also a rigid apron in front. Those. the frame allows you to build a thin brick wall under the side wall and cover it with tiles - there is enough space. Pay attention to Overflow - do not take a hard overflow if managers recommend it to you - I trusted the manager and flew through. I took a hard overflow from a well-known brand (expensive) and it did not fit due to the geometry of the wall with the overflow. I had to take the usual soft overflow-drain, which fell into place perfectly and works, but I can’t put the expensive hard one anywhere, because... I bought it from an online store. And in conclusion, I will say that for this model, the width of 70 cm is not enough to comfortably take a bath with foam. The side opposite the drain tapers quite quickly to the bottom and only a teenager or a slender girl can fit there comfortably. For my wife with parameters 92-63-93, the bathroom was a bit cramped. If you plan to lie in the bathtub and have wide shoulders or hips, then choose a wider bathtub or another model with a steeper slope of the walls.

Mounting and mounting options

Bath installation

For proper installation you will need the following tools and materials:

  • frame;
  • legs;
  • hammer;
  • Bulgarian;
  • perforator;
  • sealant;
  • level;
  • insulating tape;
  • adjustable wrench;
  • mounting tape;
  • corrugated pipe.

Installation of products made of cast iron differs from the method of installation of acrylic models.

Acrylic bathtubs

These products are installed on a special support:

  • factory frame, which is included in the kit or sold separately;
  • on the legs provided for each model;
  • The frame is made from bricks independently; this method guarantees the strength of the installation.

Procedure:

  1. Assemble the frame according to the instructions.
  2. Screw the legs to the base; it is not recommended to embed them into the floor.
  3. Screw a nut onto the pin of the leg.
  4. The height of the structure is adjusted using a level.
  5. The screen is installed on plates that are located on the sides.
  6. The inner edges of the product are treated with soundproofing material.
  7. Fasteners are made on the wall; for this, dowels are inserted into the holes.
  8. The joints are treated with sealant, leaving a gap of 5 mm between the walls.
  9. The mixer is installed according to the instructions. To do this, make a hole on the surface of the product.
  10. Connection to the water supply is made using flexible hoses.
  11. The drain pipe is connected to the sewer through a special hose.

Electrical components are connected by electricians. To protect the circuit, an RCD is installed.

Cast iron models

Under these heavy products, the floor is leveled with a special solution. Choose hard floor tiles:

  1. The bath is placed on the floor.
  2. A hydraulic siphon is connected through the rings located at the top and bottom.
  3. Secure the overflow and connect it to the pipe.
  4. Two supports under the bathtub are securely fastened, they are secured with a coupling bolt.
  5. The sewer pipe outlet is connected to the siphon.
  6. The bath is turned over and leveled.

Waterproofing is done along the edges using curb tape or ceramic plinth.

Types of breakdowns

Proper care of the product ensures the absence of defects. To do this, use special products for cleaning acrylic surfaces, which are sensitive to chemical compounds.

Do not pour too hot water into the bowl, as this will cause deformation. Do not drop heavy objects.

If chips or scratches appear, the surface is restored. The work is carried out independently using a special repair kit. To restore the original shine, use acrylic polish.

After use, the bathtub is rinsed with water and wiped dry.

Cast iron products are characterized by increased strength, they do not deform or deteriorate. The presence of defects depends on the quality of the enamel. Chips and scratches gradually destroy the upper surface. The recovery process is quite complex.

Reviews

Anton, Samara : “We have been using the Jacob Delafon bathtub for a long time. It looks very solid, far superior to domestic options. The model is equipped with handles, making it very convenient to get up when the bathtub is filled with water. The surface slips a little, we laid a rug on the bottom. Overall, a comfortable, convenient, beautiful, stylish model.”

Andrey, Izhevsk : “I purchased a Jacob Delafon bathtub seven years ago, I am pleased with my purchase. First of all, I paid attention to the quality, it is excellent. Over the entire period of use, the appearance has not changed. Stylish shape, handles for convenience."

Denis, Moscow : “Excellent white cast iron bathtub. We've been using it for six years now and haven't had a single scratch in all that time. Very durable model, nice surface. The disadvantages include high cost. But this is a guarantee of quality.”

Reviews about the brand

  1. “Compact but stylish”, Vladimir, Orel. The quality is excellent, I have known this brand for a long time. When purchasing, I consulted with the Skybuy manager about coverage. In the end, I was satisfied with everything except my own self-confidence. I thought that for my height of 170 cm this small bath would be just right. However, practice has shown that it is short for me. It's hard to fit in.
  2. “Cast iron basin for big money”, Maria, Moscow. Never look at the sizes in the store! They create a misleading impression. The Delafon cast iron bathtub is terribly expensive, but at the same time very inconvenient. The consultant insisted that for my height (173 cm) its depth would be sufficient. However, it is not. A shallow container with a flat back is more suitable for children than for adults. It is impossible to fit the legs, the water squishes out... The capacity of the structure is no good. At the same time, the seller also dissuaded us from the acrylic option, convincing us that cast iron is a plumbing ideal. Scoundrel. And scratches appeared on this prehistoric metal almost immediately. My husband said that we would sell it for scrap metal and buy an acrylic bathtub from another seller. And, most likely, we will take the corner option.
  3. “Jacob Delafon - in cramped conditions, but not offended,” Alina, 34 years old. Anticipating the pleasure of taking a bath, I was severely disappointed. My Melanie model turned out to be too small for my favorite water treatments. For some reason, the narrow and cramped bathtub in the store looked wider. Maybe the light was set that way... My husband says we bought a bath for the children. Only they will be able to splash around in this cramped bowl. We can’t even sit normally in it. There is simply no free space to comfortably stretch your legs.

    Bathtub of unusual shape in the manufacturer’s assortment

    It’s impossible to relax. The only positive aspects can be considered the quality of the material. The durable cast iron base does not crack and has a smooth enamel surface. The color remained the same even after a year of use. The heaviness of the metal somewhat obscures the interesting design. I especially like the fittings - the handles on the sides. They probably played the role of the tempter. So now I have experience. I won’t fall for beautiful trinkets a second time.

  4. “Jacob Delafon has been working flawlessly for 7 years,” Andrey, Izhevsk. I'm happy with my model. When I bought Jacob Delafon in 2010, I paid attention, first of all, to quality. And I have never regretted my choice. Although enough time has passed to reconsider my opinion. The appearance of the bathtub clearly makes it clear that this is not a domestic product, but a European one. The stylish shape complements the representative design with holes for handles. These fittings are wonderful for helping you get out of a full bath. Now I can’t imagine how you can do without them. There are no complaints about the quality of the coating, but an anti-slip mat is a must. And over time, you will have to deal with the regular yellow coating that appears after several showers. However, these are minor things compared to the advantages. No one in my family complains.
  5. “Fragile enamel”, Sergey. When the renovation was completed, I decided to install all new plumbing. I bought the Delafon model after I saw a beautiful photo on the Internet. Installed. And I got upset. I already miss my old, Soviet trough. The fact is that it was much wider and deeper. Delafon is more suitable for thin or short people. If not for children. There is frankly not enough space. Another disadvantage is the appearance of scuffs after two years. And this despite the fact that no one uses harsh chemicals to clean it. The paint doesn't peel off, but the rough texture is somewhat confusing. These small scratches on the fragile enamel will eventually cover the entire bathtub. And then you will have to buy an expensive Chinese container again. This is only the origin of the brand is French. Production has long been in China. If I find it, I’ll buy myself a Soviet-style model.

    Jacob Delafon also produces models with storage organization

  • Advantages: Beautiful, reliable;
  • Disadvantages: Brittle enamel.
